Many countries are already facing increased scarcity of water. It is expected 1800 million people will be living in countries or regions with water scarcity and two third of the world's population would be under Stress. As population and economy grows, demand of water is on a rise. Globally, an estimated 125 million children under the age of five live in households without access to a safe drinking-water source. Special focus this year is laid on Transboundary waters. The 2009 Theme is "Shared Water-Shared Opportunities." Last year, 2008 was 'Sanitation' theme. You can find India Events and more Information on this page too.
